Album Info:One of the lesser-known operating steam locomotives in Pennsylvania is a home-built narrow gage Shay steam locomotive that operates on only a few weekends per year at the Rough and Tumble Engineers and Historical Association in Kinzers, PA / Lancaster County. The Shay operates on a 31 inch gage quarter mile track that runs around the property / fairgrounds / museum. Rough and Tumble is more widely known for their operating assortment of old steam traction engines, several of which were fired up and operating on the day of our visit. The club also has a building with some large operational stationary steam engines, and a steam-powered operating lumber mill. It's a terrific museum of primarily rural technology from 100+ years ago.
