MOAY on the reverse-S curve leading into Johnsonville |
Description: |
The train was rolling along at 35-40 MPH at this point, and chasing it was a challenge. I ended up arriving at my intended photo location about 45 seconds before the train. I got this telephoto shot that shows the train rounding the first curve of the reverse S-curve leading into Johnsonville and illuminated with orange light from the setting sun. This ended up being my favorite photo of the day, and it was a surprise bonus. The photo I had been intending to take here is the next one in sequence... |

A signal's eye view of 206 |
Description: |
The train stopped just short of the Little Hoosac tunnel. I'm on the Route 2 overpass, which is essentially the west portal of the short tunnel just before North Adams Yard. Why they were held here on the main rather than being allowed to proceed another quarter mile forward into the unoccupied yard was a puzzlement to me. |

MEC 376 |
Description: |
The planned rescue power for EDRJ was MEC 376, sitting on the interchange track with Vermont Railway at nearby Hoosick Junction. It had also apparently canned the night before. But the re-crew had not arrived, and I was presented with the opportunity to chase the 206 Autoracks eastbound, so I didn't hang around to see what happened to EDRJ. |

EDRJ canned |
Description: |
I went to Eagle Bridge to see if there was any sort of rescue underway for EDRJ which had canned on the number 1 track at Eagle Bridge the night befoe. The trailing unit, MEC 515 had cut out. EDRJ is waiting for a re-crew, and rescue power to take it the rest of the way to Rotterdam Jct. Neither had showed up at the time of my visit. |

This bridge previously had a 10 MPH slow order, and I was expecting the train to cross slowly. Instead it came across at track speed - 40 MPH. Pan Am must have worked on the east pier to allow lifting the slow order. |
